Asheville, NC - Taxiway A Rehabilitation and RON Parking

The Taxiway A Rehabilitation and RON Parking Project at Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) will include 5” nominal depth mill, crack seal, and asphalt overlay on existing Taxiway A, C, and D, as well as isolated full depth pavement removal and construction. Taxiway G will receive a 4” nominal depth mill and asphalt overlay in its current geometric condition. Connector Taxiways H and J will be removed full depth and a new Taxiway H and K will be constructed. Isolated areas of full depth reconstruction will be required on Taxiway A and D. The overall scope of work includes but is not limited to full depth asphalt pavement removal, asphalt pavement milling, removal and replacement of electrical items at all impacted taxiways and apron areas, crack sealing, earthwork, grading, base course construction, P-401 and P-403 asphalt paving, drainage and landscaping improvements, marking, and erosion and sediment control. The Project will also include revegetation of all disturbed areas due to construction activities including seeding, mulching and matting as required.

All Contractors are hereby notified that they shall have proper Contractor’s licenses as required by the state laws governing their respective trade in the state where this Project is located.

Contractors shall meet the following bidding requirements:

  • Contractors must be listed on the NCDOT Prequalified list as a bidder or Prime to bid on this project.

  • Contractors, including subcontractors, must have a NC Contracting License pertaining to their discipline of work.

  • Contractors, including subcontractors, must be prequalified by the NCDOT to perform the work pertaining to their specific scope of work in the contract. The prime contractor for the project must be prequalified by the NCDOT as a prime.

  • Work codes for this project include, but are not limited to:,

  • Work code 00099 OTHER will not be accepted unless otherwise approved by the NCDOT that the work associated with that work code description for the contractor matches the work for the project.

Bids submitted by Contractors not meeting the above bidding requirements at the time of the bid opening may be deemed unresponsive by the Authority.

Notice is hereby given that the bid documents for this project contain a provision for participation by Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE). This project has a goal of 10.38% of the total dollar value of the contract to be performed by DBE Certified Subcontractors.

The Authority in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Statute, 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d to 2000d-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, Subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21, Non-discrimination in Federally Assisted Programs of the Department of transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all Bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any Award made pursuant to this advertisement, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (“DBE’s) will be afforded full opportunity to submit Bids in response to this invitation and that no Bidder will be discriminated against on the grounds of, race, creed, handicap, color, religion, sex or national origin in consideration for an Award.
