The Project includes the following Work: The project will replace and re-align approximately 420 linear feet of 42-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) with 42” Reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) along with 6 drainage structures. Over the last several years, a sinkhole has appeared in the greenspace between the fire department and Ridge Street NW above the 42-inch CMP pipe system. The CMP storm drainage system from West Avenue NW to Ridge Street NW is in a state of failure. This project will abandon approximately 210 linear feet of existing 42-inch CMP in place, replace or relocate approximately 271 linear feet of 8” Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP) sanitary sewer along with 3 sanitary sewer manholes, and miscellaneous grading to repair the sinkhole. Foundation protection will be installed on the north side of the fire department building. The existing storm drainage and sanitary sewer systems are 25 ft and 30 ft deep, respectively, and special consideration will need to be taken to provide sheeting/shoring during construction. Utility coordination, traffic control, erosion control, and site improvements are also included within the scope of this project.

The project will include the demolition of the existing terminal building and two attached hangars, construction of a new Terminal Building in the footprint of the existing building to be demolished, and the construction of a new 10,000 square foot Corporate Hangar just north of Terminal. The scope of this project is to include all sitework, grading and drainage improvements, Airfield Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) and hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving, extension of existing and new utility services to the building locations, gate and fence installation, and all work associated with the construction of the new buildings. The project shall conform to all applicable NCDOT and FAA construction requirements as well as the applicable Federal and State Building Codes.
